It begins on the day Dr.
Marlena Evans stepped in the front door of her Penthouse home, expecting to
find a quiet sanctuary, only to spy her husband to be, John Black, standing
unsteadily atop the terrace wall. John almost plunged unwittingly to his death
during a very vivid flashback to his days of captivity under the control of one
of the world's most illustrious criminal masterminds, Stefano Dimera. I hope
you enjoy yet another attempt to tie together the scattered pieces in the lives
of John Black and Marlena Evans, and their friends Hope Williams and Bo Brady.
By way of background information…… Stefano Dimera is not a cartoonish buffoon;
rather he is a man of great intelligence, and at the same time, a personification
of true evil. Hope is struggling with her alter ego, at certain times dominated
by the Gina persona, and others her own personality is in charge, but there is
no such thing as a computer chip in either her or John's brain. The particular
brand of mind control that Stefano was able to achieve was accomplished through
a combination of sophisticated brainwashing techniques, environmental
manipulation, and a pervasive and repeated pattern of verbal, emotional, and
physical abuse resulting in intermittent identity confusion. His pernicious
mistreatment of Hope, and especially John, has left many lasting scars, seen
and unseen, along the landscape of the heart, mind, body, and spirit.
There will be elements of
danger, romance and great heroism, along with pain and anguish in this ultimate
confrontation between good and evil, between free will and domination. It will
be a testimony to the power of true love and to the indomitable nature of the
