A Grand Design.... is a story that will take our couple back in time to early 1985, essentially re-writing their entire history. Marlena Evans, who is still in the beginning phases of her grief over the death of her beloved husband Roman Brady, has been invited to come to Paris to act as chair of an International Symposium on Post Traumatic Stress. She is glad to have the opportunity to focus on such an important topic and to get away from the memories for awhile, but sad to leave her children at home in Salem.
Meanwhile, an angry young man who goes by the name of John Black is in significant turmoil as well, facing his own difficult losses. The life he was leading in Europe was violently ripped apart when his latest caper was foiled by a sharp ISA agent, Shane Donovan, who eagerly followed his first good lead in a case he'd been building for years. Grieving, confused by the jumble of images and thoughts that keep flashing in his mind, injured and on the run from Donovan and his cohorts, among others, John Black is plunged into a world of darkness, at the mercy of the fates and the kindness of strangers.
A chance encounter on the Champs-Elysees changes all their lives forever and marks the start of a mysterious rousing adventure.
